Tips for a Home Remodel in 2023

It’s now 2023 and you know what they say: new year, new house goals! If you’re a homeowner, you’re probably stepping into the new year with lots of ideas in mind related to your home and home updates.

Maybe you’re ready to update your flooring. Perhaps your kitchen could use a facelift. Then there’s the guest bathroom that you’ve been meaning to give a makeover for quite some time now. There’s no limit to home remodeling ideas!

Whatever the case, here are some home remodel must-haves you should consider before starting your home remodel. Read the three main tips for you to consider as you plan your home remodel project.

  1. Create a mood/inspiration board

Before beginning any major project, it’s important to have a clear vision of the desired outcome. You can pull inspiration from just about anywhere – television, the internet and social media, home remodeling magazine, here are even home remodeling apps… anywhere. Another crucial step is adding a quick note next to the photo stating what exactly you love about it. The colors? The décor? The textures? Don’t skip this step. When it’s time to begin remodeling, you’ll thank yourself.

2. Think about the non-negotiables

We all know money is an important factor – especially during a project as hefty as a home remodel. Be sure to consider those must-have features that may cost a pretty penny in your home remodel budget. Do you want heated floors in your bathroom? Are there certain sustainable materials you love? Be sure to factor these things into your planning phase  for your house remodeling.

3. Set your budget

This may not be the most exciting subject when it comes to renovating a home (unless of course, you’re rolling in dough), but it’s a necessary consideration. Home remodeling projects don’t have to break the bank, but they will cost you. The money aspect of the project will likely be less daunting if you set a budget upfront and stick to it. Do your research so you know how much things will cost. Even after you’ve done your due diligence, it’s nearly impossible to think of every single thing that will happen during a house renovation, so it’s important to have a little extra put to the side for those unexpected expenses.

Planning a home remodel can be a really exciting time, especially if it’s something you’ve been looking forward for a while. With proper planning, it is possible to have a successful, (nearly) stress-free home remodeling experience, and of course, enjoying the finished result of the  home renovation project is worth it!
